Home Education Resources
For six beautiful years, I had the privilege of homeschooling my daughters, and looking back, those were some of the most precious, faith-building years of our lives. Our dining table became a classroom, our kitchen became a science lab, and our walks became history lessons. But most importantly, our home became a sanctuary of learning, laughter, and prayer.
Homeschooling can feel overwhelming when you’re just starting out, so many curriculums, philosophies, and opinions. I remember spending nights researching, praying, and second-guessing myself. That’s why I created this page, to share what actually worked for us, what helped nurture faith, curiosity, and character in our children, and what I would wholeheartedly recommend to any Christian mother beginning her homeschooling journey.
Whether you’re homeschooling full-time, exploring hybrid options, or simply looking for godly resources to supplement your child’s education, I pray this page gives you clarity, courage, and confidence.
WHY WE CHOSE TO HOMESCHOOL
Our decision was rooted in Deuteronomy 6:6-7:
“And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children…”
Homeschooling allowed us to build an education anchored in God’s Word, where learning at that young age wasn’t about a set curriculum but about growing in wisdom and godly character. It gave us the freedom to:
- Teach from a biblical worldview
- Prioritize character and discipleship
- Foster a genuine love for learning
- Create a peaceful home rhythm that nurtured creativity and wonder
OUR HOMESCHOOL PHILOSOPHY
When we started homeschooling, I quickly learned it wasn’t just about lessons and textbooks, it was about creating an atmosphere. What filled our home each day mattered more than what filled the planner. I wanted our girls to grow up in a space filled with peace, curiosity, faith, and joy.
We never followed one method perfectly. We borrowed what worked from:
- Charlotte Mason (gentle learning, nature walks, living books)
- Classical Education (strong foundations in reading, writing, and reasoning)
- Faith-based Unit Studies (Bible-centered, theme-based learning)
But the thing that shaped our homeschool most wasn’t a curriculum… it was a name.
We called our homeschool Treasuring Childhood.
That name became a daily reminder of what we wanted most out of these years together , not perfection, not performance, but presence.
In a world that tells children to hurry up and grow fast, Treasuring Childhood was our way of slowing down. Some days, learning looked like reading stories on the sofa under blankets. Other days, it was long walks talking about the sky, baking together and calling it “math,” or stopping a lesson to pray through tears or laughter.
Homeschooling gave us the freedom to teach deeply, love intentionally, and make faith the thread running through it all.
That’s what Treasuring Childhood meant to us, seeing learning as worship, seeing everyday moments as sacred, and protecting the beauty of childhood before it slips away.
One day, the books will close and the house will be quiet. But what will remain is the love we planted, the prayers we prayed, and the memories of a childhood we truly treasured.
And though our homeschool journey has shifted in this season, the heart behind it hasn’t. Due to some health challenges, we made a difficult decision to enroll the girls in school for one year. After that year, we had a conversation with the girls and they said they’d like to stay a little longer, and we prayerfully agreed.
Now, we’re taking it one day at a time, one school year at a time, trusting God to guide us in every decision concerning their education. Whether they’re learning at home or in a classroom, our calling remains the same, to raise them in the love and knowledge of Jesus, and to keep treasuring childhood in every form it takes.
Even though our homeschool looks a little different now, I still get so many questions from other mums about what we used — what worked, what we loved, and what I’d recommend if you’re thinking about homeschooling or even just wanting to bring more faith-based learning into your home.
So below, I’ve gathered some of the resources, books, and curriculums that shaped our journey. These are things that truly added joy, peace, and meaning to our days and I hope they bless your family as much as they did ours.
